As mentioned before the broadway show Mary Poppins is on at Theatre 11 in Zurich. We bought tickets for the girls for Christmas, and to coincide with the evening events, I decided to set up a little afternoon tea along the lines of the story. It is such a lovely theme to work with and I found some great ideas on Pinterest to try out too. Enjoy!

Let’s go fly a kite! I made these for decoration but would also make a great party activity too!

My favourite detail? Painting little cocktail umbrellas black to mimic Mary’s.

Loved this graphic of Mary’s tape measure I found on Pinterest.

I made Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious bunting! You can see I took a shortcut by pegging on the bunting to string. I was not going to try and thread it all! Instead I used the time to make little chimney sweeps out of pipe cleaners!

My Krima and Isa Cherry napkins came in handy as afterall they live at 17 Cherry Tree Lane and can you spot the little toy Schleich penguin I borrowed from the girls toy box?

I had to laugh, I nearly planned to look for a black hat but then realised my lamp which was already on the sideboard was in fact just that!

How clever are these carousel straws? The free printable I saved years ago from the BHLDN website and now I finally get to use it! (and here’s a stylist secret I accidentally threw away the girls sidewalk chalk at the end of summer and now couldn’t find any for the shoot – so I wrapped up glue sticks in tissue pape instead – only problem was when Bailey asked if she could go draw on the road!).

Butterfly kites for the girls and tickets for the show!

And the next best thing in terms of party favours? I have decided it must be jars of bird seed with little feathered birds sitting on top! Will definitely be using this idea in my spring events.
