We have been visiting Andermatt for skiing for the past three or so years, and last year was the first year we spent the whole ski week there. Having had such a good experience we decided to do the same thing this year. Only, we made a huge improvement to the plan: we booked the girls into Ski School. The Swiss Ski School is found right opposite the Bahnhof and a few metres away from the bottom of the Nätschen. We booked the girls in online for the full week: Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm. I would recommend doing this a few weeks before so you are guaranteed a spot. What we didn’t do but you should definitely do at the same time is buy the ski pass from the school as well, it works out much cheaper than buying it from the Bahnhof ticket counter.
The girls have had private ski lessons before but this was the first time they would be in a group and graded. And I wished we had done this before. They skied all five days, 4 hours a day and not one complaint! They learnt so much and made new friends at the same time. Plus, as they were gone all morning and afternoon (the school includes lunchtime supervision), Liam and I were able to spend time together and enjoy eating lunch at different restaurants in the area – just the two of us.
The highlight of the week was the last day where all the kids particpate in an official Ski Race and are awarded medals at the end. The girls loved it, Zara came 6th in Bailey 3rd in their respective group. And we all can’t wait for next year!
