Naturally, the reason to visit Uluru is to see Ayers Rock. The monolith (single rock) is something impressive and we enjoyed walking around it with our guide as he showed us the area’s natural fauna and flora and telling us the Aborginal stories and beliefs in relation to the rock and the area. It was amazing to see the rock up close and some of the paintings on the rock and how it tells these same stories. We then visited the Cultural Centre and here one was able to follow the history of the rock right up to present day, where history is actually now being made again whereby later this year finally the rock will be “handed over” back to the Aborginies and no one will be allowed to climb the sacred rock again.
