As we are spending most of the Summer in Switzerland, I decided to think of all of the places friends have suggested and visited before. One that my old German teacher recommended years ago was Ballenberg. Ballenberg is an open-air museum in Switzerland that displays traditional buildings and architecture from all over the country. Located near Brienz in the municipality of Hofstetten bei Brienz, Canton of Bern, Ballenberg has over 100 original buildings that have been transported from their original sites and is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.

We loved seeing all the old buildings and how different they are! Other highlights included seeing how hats were fashioned with the help of cereal boxes, homemade or “trash music” instruments, the little piglets and of course! the cows!
