Sophie Kinsella has always been a firm favourite of mine ever since I read her Shopaholic series. I have also enjoyed her standalone novels and My Not So Perfect Life is a perfect addition. The main character Cat (or is it Cath? or Katie?) is a young twenty-something working in “branding” in London and her life is not all that it is cracked up to be, not that her Instagram account would ever give a hint to that. That is until she gets fired and has to head back home to live with her Dad in the country – but then both her city and country life and all the people that come with each life come crashing together for a fun finale.
The book makes for a great “beach” read, easy to pick up and put down, and I made good work of it on the long flight from China back home. It has made me look forward to visiting London next month and I now thanks to the book too, I am keen to look into a bit of glamping in the English countryside!
