The Belmond Hotel in Iguassu Falls is perfect in every way. I loved so many things about the place: the design, the food, the gifts they spoilt us with but naturally the highlight was the close proximity to the Falls and the other nearby attractions. One of which was the Bird Park.
Initially, we had not planned to go the park as we had spent the whole day in actual National Park in Argentina; the question was: did we need to go one that was “a big zoo” as Liam put it? But I was able to convince everyone that we NEEDED to see a real life toucan up close and I was so happy we did. They are amazing birds and now my new favourite bird by a mile.
Some interesting facts we learnt: The red lines on their beaks are actually blood vessels. They don’t live in a nest but carve hollows in tree trunks and they hunt for other birds’ eggs and babies! Eventhough this made me initially like them a little bit less I decided they needed to a bit of a #badass bird.
