Last year, I added riding a camel to me 40 Things before 40 Bucket List and this year I decided that I would like to ride an elephant. I was so happy that I found Elefantastic on Trip Advisor in the city of Jaipur! One can ride the elephants at the Amber Fort but here they use hard seats and the elephants are made to work all day in the terrible heat and I am not sure of their living conditions.
Fortunately, Elefantastic is the exact opposite: it is a sanctuary for elephants were they are well looked after: each local family cares for an elephant as part of their family. Our girls (and us grownups) had the best time feeding the elephants, drawing on them (with special organic chalk paint), washing them, getting drenched and riding them around the farm at moonlight (on soft, harmless cushions)! It was one of the most memorable experiences of my lifetime, and I am sure our girls will remember it forever!
