It is always a bit tricky for Liam and I to buy gifts for each other as we tend to know exactly what we want for ourselves and then usually are too scared to buy the wrong colour or the wrong size or completely the wrong thing! So over the years, we have developed a plan where we opt for a trip to count as our gift. On the day, Liam will then pick a restaurant as a surprise and then I always try to find something small for both of us to open and often try tie it in with the trditional/modern wedding anniversary gift ideas. For example: in our first year, as the traditional gift was paper, I bought him some art prints of our favourite paintings. For the 2nd year, it was new bedding and towelling to count as cotton, and then I can’t remember what we did in between but I do remember getting creative with the 12th as it was China (and we decided to plan a trip to the country China) and the 13th was lace and textile furs and I decided that a “rug” would qualify. So with this year being our 14th, I was really struggling with it being ivory when suddenly I remembered from our recent trip to Kenya that you could foster one of the baby elephants at the David Sheldrik Wildlife Trust. Best “ivory” idea ever! And to make it even more special you can pick the exact orphan you wnat to adopt and would you beleive one was already named GALLA?

Here is a link to all the details about our little elephant baby, and they really do make the best gifts for those hard to shop for people – especially with Christmas coming up!
