Even though I have been to CT numerous times, our last April Holiday included our first trip to The Cheetah Outreach in Somerset West – and it really is a once in a lifetime experience. It’s an easy day trip – in fact it takes under an hour to get there so one could easily plan it for the morning or afternoon and plan another activity out Somerset West way for the rest of the day.
The cheetahs (as well as other animals) are all outdoors, so best to plan for a sunny and/or cloudy day – but not rainy! The directions are easy, there is ample parking and the place is child-friendly. Be sure to opt for entering the Cheetah enclosure – trust me you want to touch a real-life Cheetah! I won’t spoil all the interesting facts and stories that the tour guides shared but it was a morning I will always remember.
There is a small gift shop (Zara got a necklace and Bailey a bangle) as well as a street vendor selling African crafts – so I treated myself to two beaded Strelitzia’s to complement my beaded Proteas – it was my Primary School’s flower.
