If you live in Cape Town or holidaying there and you find yourself with a rainy or chilly day, then you will definitely want to visit the Clay Cafe in Hout Bay. Here is a large indoor space where you can get creative! You select an unadorned bisque ornament, decorative item or piece of tableware. There is a huge selection – and it was great to see so many cute things for kids especially boy ones too! You then move onto picking your paint brushes and all the coloured paints you like; and lastly any stencils or stickers you may want to try out.
Having gathered all your goodies, you take a seat and get started painting your masterpiece. There is no need to rush and we ended up spending the whole morning and midday there: painting, eating lunch (great burger!), painting, drinking coffee, painting, eating dessert, painting…
Once you are done, you hand in your goodies to be baked in the oven and glazed and they will notify you in a few weeks time when you can collect. We can’t wait to see Zara’s owls when they are finished – and I will be sure to share the end result.
