Every year, I’ve made personalised posters for the girls and their First Day Back at School. This year I decided to make Vintage generic ones so that everyone could download and use them. They also make for great placemats on the table for your Back to School Breakfast or lunch.
Once the girls had taken their photos with them, I had them turn over the page and write down three goals for the School Year. Something that they wanted to achieve whether it be in grades, sport or with friends. We did this last year and I kept the papers and it was so great for the girls to open theirs on the last day of school and see that they have achieved all three things that they had written. A good tip is to try and use this opportunity to teach your little ones about setting goals and SMART ones. Ones that they can measure and not be too broad or lofty that they are not sure how to practically achieve the goals or if they actually did at the end of the year.
The acronym SMART has several slightly different variations, which can be used to provide a more comprehensive definition of goal setting but I like:
S – specific
M – measurable
A – agreed upon
R – realistic
T – time-based
And then for the first time this year, I had Amanda make some posters saying Last Day of School – that way the girls can mark the end of this school year, the achievement of their goals and we all get to see how much they have grown in one year!
