Our stay at Ashford Castle was magical! It is an Irish Castle in the County of Mayo and is everything you would expect a castle to be! Beautiful reception rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, every room you look! We spent the mornings have long lazy breakfasts in the George V Dining Room, and enjoyed various activities that the estate had to offer: walking the beautiful grounds, taking a historic boat tour on the Loch, afternoon tea in the dedicated Salon, playing chess, nine holes of golf on their course (there is also a Billiards room but we didn’t have a game as well as a in-house cinema!). We also did two other special activities – I’ll share these in the next two posts. Also, even if you don’t stay at the Castle; I would highly recommend dining at one of their three restaurants – and staying three nights gave us the the opportunity to try all three: The Cullens at the Cottage (great fish!), The Dungeon (tasty steaks and burgers) and George V (fancy dining but not stuffy at all!).
