After our first Jordanian lunch we headed to the Citadel of Amman. Here we learnt all about it’s history and did you know it was one of the ancient cities of the world called Philadelphia? Here we were able to see all the different periods that the city experienced and highlights included viewing the city of seven hills from above all in it’s classic sandstone colour, seeing one of the tallest flagpoles in the world (and at one time it held the world record!), standing in the pillars of The Temple of Hercules and getting a close up view of the ‘Ain Ghazal Statues on display at The Jordan Museum – dating back to 7250 BC, they are considered to be among the oldest human statues ever found!
