Naturally the number one activity to do when in Kenya, and specifically Sasaab Country is to go game driving. Sasaab is close to the Buffalo Springs and Samburu National Reserves, in Kenya’s Northern Frontier District. It’s a place of rich natural diversity with an astounding number of animals from huge majestic elephant to leopard and the ‘Special Five’: the Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Gerenuk antelope and Somali ostrich. We loved spotting these unique sub species and my new favourite must be the Grevy’s zebra with his Mickey Mouse ears. Also, our incredible guide Daniel not only helped us find all five but he waited knowingly when the Gerenuk would stand and we were able to see this unique trait of the antelope! We sure going to miss our guides Daniel and Lema (our Samburu Spotter) and the amazing bush breakfasts they made!
