As part of our guided tour of the island of Rhodes we visited the Savvas Pottery and Ceramics Art Studio. I would definitely recommend anyone visiting the island to make a point to visit this studio. We love the demonstration around the pottery wheel and seeing their workshop.
Liam trying to figure out the Pythageorean Cup. A practical joke device in a form of a drinking cup, credited to Pythagoras of Samos. When it is filled beyond a certain point, a siphoning effect causes the cup to drain its entire contents through the base.
We then headed for the shop and spent quite a while deciding which pieces we would like to take home. As you may know I love anything blue and white and so was spoilt for choice on what to choose. In the end I went for the island’s flower: a ceramic pomegranate and a traditional jug featuring their animal: a deer. I also had to get one of their napkin holders with their unique shape.
