We are back from Mauritius after two wonderful weeks and I will be sharing all this week all the details. We left Switzerland on the last day of school and flew with Edelweiss. The great thing is that eventhough it is an eleven hour flight, it is overnight and direct! We were going to the island for two weeks: the first weke to celebrate Liam’s Dad’s 70th, Liam’s 40th and his parents 45th wedding anniversary. For the 2nd week, we celebrated my Mom’s 70th and my sister’s early 40th birthday.

Liam’s Dad booked the Shandrani on recommendation of Liam’s brother who stayed their for his honeymoon – and we decided to stay on for my family – why change hotels when they could all come to us – ha ha!

The hotel is conveniently located 10 minutes from the airport which is a huge plus if you are travelling 11 hours – or having to get to the airport at 6am on the morning on departure! The only downside is that the airport is close and so you hear the planes during the day – but there are not that many each day and I think we enjoyed seeing them up close.

The hotel is an all inclusive 5 star one, which is just the best – as you don’t have to worry about bills. All the restaurants, pool bar, room mini bar, non motorised water sports and even motorised water skiing was included!

There were 4 restaurants, so it was nice to be able to eat a variety of food every day: from a different buffet every night (think French, Fish, American, Ialian, Asian and Creole!) and then there was the fancy Le Sirus, the Thai and the italian – the latter our favourite!

All in all, I would highly recommend the hotel especially as I loved the overall design and layout of the hotel – with the pool only a few yards from the beach. But I would recommend waiting a year or so, as they will do renovations in the next coming months (I think the rooms whilst nice do need a bit of an upgrade) and then it will be just perfect!

Stay tuned this week as I will share all the detais of the actvities we did in the resort as well as around the island!
