For the past few weeks I felt February really dragged and I just couldn’t wait to turn my calendar over. But now that the new Month is here, I wonder why I wished the days away as I can’t specifically pinpoint anything super exciting happening this month? Maybe I thought in would bring Spring, but March sure is living up to the phrase “March many weathers” and I suspect we will have every season this month!
Now that the second month of the year is complete, I thought I would take a look and see how my New Years Resolutions are going and I wish I could say it was as successful as the first month. I still managed to reach my goals for SHARE (travelling) and SUCCEED (building my Portfolio) goals, but once again my NEED (Weight and Health) and WANT (House) goals seem to be stuck in the same place. I did do a few tasks for each but nothing felt like actual progress forward – but I guess I should just look at it like I was “treading water” and as long as I don’t sink or go backwards; that is progress.
But a new month is a new start and so I thought once again it is a good idea to break down my goals into very specific steps for the month and then hopefully I can tick these off and it will feel like I am moving forward.
SHARE – Travel goals are done this month as we are all set to go to China on the 30th. Terribly excited! And this week I started to finalise all the planning for our trips for 2018: I don’t plan every detail, but I always try to get the flights and hotels booked this early on. And I know it is crazy but I am actually even starting to think about 2019 and creating flight booking reminders a year out, as this is the only way to secure Economy Saver tickets. And most exciting, I must finalise all the plans for Liam’s 40th next year February.
BOOK ALL FLIGHTS AND HOTELS FOR NEXT 12 MONTHS
SUCCEED – My Photography goals for March include my ideas for Mothers Day and Winter (sorry top secret work); and then I am also hoping to shoot two bold and bright Summer scenes. For my “own” ideas I am still thinking about what to do, but I had such fun throwing together a World Book Day Dinner in under an hour, so kind of keen to challenge myself to have a “themed” dinner once every second week but only plan it with what I have on hand and in under an hour. I am also trying to draw up a complete schedule of themes for the year, so I can already start thinking of ideas, creating mood boards and sourcing goodies.

WANT – I had lots of meetings last month regarding the Hunenberg house, but the plans still have to be approved. So I am hoping that the plans will be completely finalised and by the end of the month we will have a definite start date for the renovations; and here’s hoping it is in April! I was able to cross off projects at Andermatt (starting to share the photos here on the blog – Check out Swiss Chalet) and Raebmatt, so also looking to wrap up all of these as much as I can.

NEED – So my weight and health goals didn’t really budge last month, I did go to my scheduled doctor’s appointment and did Pilates when I wasn’t on holiday, but I ate carbs, forgot to take my vitamins, the scale didn’t move and a few days were NOT sugar free! So, this month I will focus again on: no sugar, limit carbs to once per day, taking vitamins, going to Pilates twice a week and instead of putting more pressure on myself (these goals are already so tough for me), my “fun” thing to do is going to be trying out a new/different vegetable once a week. I know it sounds crazy but I definitely do not eat enough veggies and I think the more vegetables I learn to eat and prepare nicely with meals, the more I can cut back on fruit, meat, dairy and YES! carbs! So Meatless Mondays are back!
BIG GOAL: NO CARBS AND SUGAR
BABY GOAL: ONE NEW VEGGIE A WEEK – MEATLESS MONDAYS
So that’s the Monthly Plan folks, let’s hope I am back here in April telling you all about how I “marched forward in March”. Yip! I just said that!
