As part of our Laidlaws on La Med cruise and as the girls First Communion was coming up in early June, we visited The Vatican City. We were only in Rome for one night so our visit was a short one. We naturally had to visit the Vatican Museum and The Sistine Chapel. The museum is impressive and the Last Judgement fresco by Michelangelo on the ceiling is even more so. Be sure to buy the “jump the queue” tickets becuase it is very, very long and you will wait hours in the hot sun. Plus, you can not simply walk up into the Chapel, you have to follow a specific route throughout the whole museum, and with the crowds we were in there well over two hours. But it is worth it in every way, and the girls were able to choose their own special rosary beads from the Chapel shop.
