I love having goals as it motivates me to do more; and one of my Travel Goals is to see more of my home country South Africa. I especially want to take the girls to see all of the nine provinces. We have done some easily and others I have to plan a specific trip and we still have four more to go. Here is our list so far:

1 Gauteng – This is an easy one as all of us were born in Johannesburg and we visit our family there often but I do try to make a point of seeing new things or showing things to the girls for the first time, for example last time we went to the Johannesburg Zoo and the Bird Gardens at Montecasino. And naturally we go for the food: we tried out

2 Western Cape – This is also an easy one for us as we have a holiday home in Cape Town and yes, we try each time to go and do somehing new; you will often see my posts about places to go and things to do in Cape Town. Last year, we explored everything at The Spice Route.

3 KwaZulu-Natal – We first went to Durban as a family for Liam’s cousin wedding. We had such a good time staiyng at the Oyster Box Hotel, swimming on the beach and visiting the uShaka Marine World. Did you know it is one of the 7 New Cities Wonder of the World?

4 North West – One of our first proper family breaks was at Sun City. The girls were little so we stayed most of the time at the resort and enjoyed the Valley of the Waves “beach”, pools, water rides, walking on the rope bridge and really just enjoying being in the sun.

5 Limpopo – The girls have been to the bush with Liam’s parents a few times but never before with my family, so this summer when we were in Johannesburg we took a drive to the Limpopo Province and stayed at the incredible Marataba Safari Lodge. We loved going on the early morning and afternoon game drives and the highlight of the trip was a bush dinner under the stars and the blood moon lunar eclipse.

Now, I must start planning our trips to the next 4 provinces: the Northern Cape, Mpumalanga, the Eastern Cape and the Free State. Any must sees you can recommend?
