Every year as part of the last day of school, Montana has a farewell ceremony for the Grade 6s. At the end of the speeches all the Grade 6s leave the hall and all the other kids form two lines down the centre of the aisles. They then are each handed a sunflower and form a giant arch. The Grade 6s are then called one by one to walk down teh arch and at the end receive their graduation ertificate, They have been doing this since Zara was in Grade 1 and it such a lovely way to say farewell and everyone gets a sunflower! I especially had tears in my eyes whe I overheard Zara say to her friend Isabella:
Zara: “This will be the last time we hold a sunflower – as next year we will be running down the aisle!”
Me: Sob.
