As part our family adventures we have a goal to see as many of the Natural and Man-Made, New and Old Wonders of the World as we can. In 1994, the American Society of Civil Engineers compiled a list of Seven Wonders of the Modern World, paying tribute to the “greatest civil engineering achievements of the 20th century” and whilst this isn’t our main list as we were in Brazil, we were too close not to go and at least lay our eyes on the Itaipu Dam. It is largest operating hydroelectric facility in the world in terms of annual energy generation and it is truly a wonder to behold!
